Here is a map of the current wildfire situation in Northern California. This map is based upon satellite infrared mapping from NASA’s MODIS/TERRA Satellites.
Red dots show heat detected in the previous 6 hours (this image is from 1pm, on October 16th, 2017).
Orange areas are places heat was detected in the previous 24 hours, and
Yellow areas generally have not burned for over a day.
This is a coarse-scale look at the fires, but in general, they are really cooling down, and only actively spreading in the red areas.
